The show will air on Montana PBS at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24.
McGrath swore in his successor, Corey Swanson, Jan. 6, ending his 42 years as an elected official. Before joining Montana’s highest court, McGrath was the Montana attorney general and served as the Lewis and Clark County attorney. McGrath served from 2009 to 2025 as the court's chief justice and was Montana's assistant Attorney General 1977 to 1982.
McGrath wrote the majority opinion in the December 2024 case of Held v. The case was successful, as it claimed the law violated the Montana youths' right to a clean and healthy environment.

In the program, McGrath reflects on on his career, and the judiciary's relationship with the executive and legislative branches of Montana government.
